Richard Boyd Barrett is the People Before Profit Alliance TD for Dun Laoghaire.
Richard Boyd Barrett TD has served as TD in Dail Eireann for Dun Laoghaire since 2011 and on Dun Laoghaire Council since 2009. Richard is a member of the Oireachtas Finance Committee and the Oireachtas Public Oversight and Petitions Committee.
A native of Dun Laoghaire, Richard has a long record of campaigning for improved local services, social housing, youth and community amenities, workers rights and jobs.
Richard is a key organiser in the Right2Water Campaign. He has organised national protests and demonstrations against war, for Jobs and Services and against NAMA and Bank Bail Outs.
He led the campaign that stopped St Michael’s Hospital being taken over by developers and campaigned to keep the A&E in Loughlinstown Hospital open.
Richard spearheaded the Save Our Seafront Campaign which has campaigned to restore the Baths and retain the harbour as a public amenity. Richard is chair of the Save Our Seafront Committee which has been campaigning to restore the baths and retain the harbour as a public amenity. He is the chairperson of the Irish Anti-War Movement, campaigning against wars in Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan and the use of Shannon Airport by the US military.
The People Before Profit Alliance are organised across the 32 counties, with councillors across Dublin and in Sligo and Wexford. In Northern Ireland, well known campaigner Eamon McCann has contested elections for People Before Profit in Derry and the organisation has an elected councillor to Belfast City Council, Cllr Gerry Carroll.
